LOS ANGELES – Great success for the animated short film “In The Shadow of the Cypress”, which won the prestigious Oscar Award in the Best Animated Short Film category.
Directed by Shirin Sohani and Hossein Molayemi, the short had already received an important recognition at “Marateale in Short”, the competition dedicated to short films within the Marateale – International Basilicata Award festival.

(ANSA) – ROME, MAR 3 – In The Shadow of the Cypress, the animated short film directed by Iranian filmmakers Shirin Sohani and Hossein Molayemi, has won the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film.

La Marateale Award in Winter
I premiati di questa edizione sono stati veri e propri giganti del settore cinematografico, tra cui il talentuoso Massimiliano Caiazzo, protagonista della serie “Mare Fuori”; l’iconico Franco Nero, celebrato per la sua carriera e le interpretazioni memorabili; Micaela Ramazzotti, premiata come Migliore Opera Prima per il suo esordio alla regia con “Felicità”; Paolo Bonolis, icona del panorama televisivo; Giorgio Tirabassi, riconosciuto per il suo contributo artistico, e Achille Lauro, protagonista della musica italiana.
Un riconoscimento, inoltre, a Walter Nicoletti e a Lordnox. Un premio speciale è stato consegnato alla pellicola di Matteo Garrone “Io Capitano” e al suo protagonista Seydou Sarr. “Marateale Award In Winter 2023 ha confermato il suo ruolo di punto di riferimento nel mondo del cinema, celebrando l’arte, la cultura e il talento che caratterizzano il panorama artistico italiano e internazionale”, hanno sottolineato entusiasti Nicola Timpone e Antonella Caramia.
Inoltre, la prossima edizione del Marateale darà la possibilità al cortometraggio vincitore di qualificarsi per la candidatura agli Oscar. Un ringraziamento ad Alessandro Onorato, assessore ai grandi eventi del Comune di Roma e a tutti i suoi collaboratori, per l’ospitalità e a tutti coloro che hanno reso questa serata indimenticabile, celebrando l’arte, la cultura e il talento che rendono l’Italia un faro luminoso nell’industria cinematografica mondiale.

Everything is ready for the 17th edition of “Marateale – Basilicata International Award” which will be held from 21 July, to 26 July in Maratea, in the Teatro sul mare of the Hotel Santavenere.

Festival Sections
10 international feature films of fiction, documentaries and animation, linked to environmental and sustainability themes, will be selected to participate in a competition with numerous prizes.
Brand new competition which involves the creation of commercials by young Lucanian students who focus attention on the importance of the historical, human, environmental and social resources of their territory and their problems in this period of global pandemic and their future expectations.
